What a week!
This year, our special guests for Music Flood Week are Doikayt, a 9 musician Klesmer collective. The ensemble will lead workshops and assemblies before finishing the week performing with our partnership pupils at concerts in Abingdon’s Market Place and Radley College’s Theatre.
Music Flood Week 2024 marked the start of our partnership with Gabrieli Roar
Gabrieli Roar is a unique and exciting partnership between professional ensemble The Gabrieli Consort and Players and a network of diverse British youth choirs.
In preparation for this year’s Gabrieli Roar Christmas project, we held singing workshops led by members of the Gabrieli Roar team and inspirational instrumental assemblies led by instrumentalists from the Gabrieli Consort.
In December some of our young performers will join the Gabrieli Consort and Players for a side-by-side performance in Coventry’s iconic cathedral.
The Radley College singing team, Oxfordshire Music Service and the Gabrieli Roar team joined up to support teachers in primary schools as they lead and develop school choirs to work towards this special project. This will be part of a term of musical activity including curriculum resources for teachers to use in classes, singing workshops and further performance opportunities, as well as instrumental resources tailored for children of all ages and levels of confidence.
Inspiration Assemblies
We are always proud of the enthusiasm and energy our secondary school pupils bring to Music Flood Week - whether they are leading assemblies in primary schools or busking in playgrounds at the end of the day. Watch this video to see Joe leading an assembly and talking about what Music Flood means to him.
